The Elmo Conspiracy

We have noticed that Talia is particularly social during her nappie (diaper) changes. This morning during a change was no exception. She was her normal cute self making cooing and vowel sounds. After I had finished cleaning her and taking off her dirty diaper I let Talia see the picture of Cookie Monster on her new diaper and then proceeded to put it on her. As I was in progress with putting the new diaper on, Talia muttered something that sounded a lot like Elmo, who is the Sesame Street character we've found she likes to play with when over at Grandma and Grandpa T's house. Elmo is also the other character that appears on the front of some of her diapers. Well, shortly after saying Elmo, Talia decided she wasn't done filling her nappie and Daddy had to change her diaper again, this time the picture on the front was of her furry little friend Elmo. Were these events accidental? Did Talia just happen to say Elmo and then wiz all over Cookie Monster in an attempt to get Daddy to give her the Elmo diaper? Well, we really don't know, but we do know that Talia continues to amaze us daily. This picture was taken awhile back, but it was the only one I could find that has her in her Elmo diapers. Also the furry bunny slippers are pretty funny looking.

Daddy and Talia

Daddy and Talia
Daddy and I are having fun while Mommy goes to a women's breakfast.

Daddy really loves me. He picked this rose for me and left me a note before he went to work. He also left Mommy a bouquet of cosmos.

Aging, Sleeping, and Bathing

Talia must be getting older; she has a toothless grin and she is losing her hair. Interestingly, Talia is losing the hair on top of her head while retaining the thick, soft hair on the sides. This picture caught the tail end of her smile.

Sleep Update: For the third night Talia has slept between 11 and 12 hours between feedings with only one feed in the middle!! Mommy and Daddy are thrilled to be getting more sleep. It seems that we might be down to 6 feedings per day. Note: This picture was taken before we woke up Talia from her nap (NOT during the middle of the night).

Rub-a-dub-dub! Talia appears to be a water baby. We were concerned that Talia would not be too thrilled about her first bath. We were pleasantly surprised that she seemed to enjoy the bath. A friend gave us this tub with a shower head. The gentle spray of the shower feature allows us to rinse Talia while keeping her warm.

Two Week Talia

Here are a few more pictures of Talia. She is around 2 weeks old.Talia is practicing lifting her head. She will oblige us with this task on the carpet, but she much prefers to strengthen her neck muscles perched on our chests.

Mommy was having fun playing dress-up with Talia. She was trying on a few dresses for her first week at church. Talia struck a ballerina pose for this picture.

Ah, the baby scale. It is advertised to help weigh babies, but that is only the beginning. Talia considers the scale to be a snuggly bed, a platform for acrobatics (including kicking over any object precariously placed within the vicinity), and a torture device. Can you see her preference at this moment?

Sleep, Sweet Sleep

Here is a picture of Talia sleeping when she was a few days old. This post is about a current event, but we haven't uploaded the other 200 more recent pictures of her. Yes, we are camera happy. But who can blame us?!

I would like to thank Talia for giving Daddy and Mommy a great night of sleep. Last night Talia dropped her second night feeding. She nursed at 7:30 p.m. and went to bed (cradle). At 2:00 a.m. I woke up and realized that Talia was still sleeping! I could not contain my excitement! She nursed around 2:15 a.m. and didn't eat again until 7:30 in the morning. This may be an anomaly, but Daddy and Mommy can live (and sleep) with this kind of schedule!

P.S. Sarah, you were right. She was ready to drop a feeding!

Talia's First Days

Talia was the impetus for creating a blog. It took nothing less than our beautiful little girl to convince us to endure our painfully slow dial-up to share our lives with you all. So here are a few pictures of Talia's first days.

Here is one of my birthday pictures. Daddy took some rather embarrassing pictures of me in my birthday suit. I prefer this picture because I am clean and warm.

One of the few times I opened my eyes in the first week was when Mommy was burping me. Daddy caught me in a rare, unflattering moment.

I love my Daddy! Mommy said I got his good looks.

One of my favorite things to do is the newborn crawl. I think this is a good end to this post.
